Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya was established at Eraligool in the district of Karimganj by the Government of Assam with the financial assistance from the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). The government initiative to establish the college was to provide quality higher education compatible to one available in the best institutes of the country along with a distinct focus on science education, which is affordable and accessible to all section of the society. The college came into existence through continuous effort of the Department of Higher Education and the RUSA, the institution has finally been able to open the gate of the institution to the first batch of students from the academic year 2017-2018. The college is located at Eraligool, about 25 km from Karimganj town. The college has an infrastructure built on a sprawling campus spreading over 30 bighas of land. The serene campus of the college will have the best of ambience including well stock library, digital classrooms, up to date laboratories conducive for teaching, learning and research along with residential facilities for college staff and girls students. A galaxy of highly qualified dedicated faculties will put their best efforts to impart education along with continuous monitoring of students for their overall improvement.
The Mahavidyalaya offers Higher Secondary courses (10+2) in Science Stream under Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, Guwahati and Bachelor of Science course under Assam University, Silchar, in as many as six Science subjects, viz. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology and Statistics along with English and Bengali. The college has an ambitious plan to introduce several Skill Development courses in the years to come The necessary infrastructure of the Mahavidyalaya such as academic buildings and laboratories for running Science courses at the Honours and Pass course level is complete. Amidst the ongoing academic activities, infrastructural development in terms of residential complexes for the teaching and non-teaching staff, Girls’ Hostel, canteen, boundary wall, etc. is going on in full swing. Taking a note of the New Education Policy of the Government of India, PDUAM is striving to promote skill-based knowledge, inclusive growth of education, participatory culture and value oriented approach in addition to its regular courses in near future.
