• Assam University is a central public university located at Silchar, Assam, India. It was founded in the year 1994 by the provisions of an act enacted by the Parliament of India.
• The university has sixteen schools which offer Humanities, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Information Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Technology and Management Studies. There are 42 departments under these sixteen schools.

North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) NIRF 2016-2024 Ranking: North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) is a Central University established on 19 July 1973.  The university has two campuses, in Shillong and Tura. Both campuses are in Meghalaya state. It was established as a regional university for the states of northeast India, including Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, and had given birth to Nagaland University in 1994 and Mizoram University in 2001.
