Indian Institute of Management Shillong Admission 2020 – PhD (Full-time) Doctoral Programme in Management

The full time Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD) of IIM Shillong is meant for scholars with curiosity in knowledge related to management studies. It is planned as a rigorous and inter-disciplinary research programme in all areas of management. The programme is committed to train individuals who will excel in their respective area as educators/practitioners and produce high quality research through publication of quality work of international standard.

Doctoral programme of IIM Shillong aims at creating dedicated researchers and scholars who would explore the critical issues in management, identify opportunities for new frameworks and form new insights. The programme offers opportunities for carrying out advanced interdisciplinary research in all fields of management education and practice.

PhD (full time) Programme Outline

The participant is expected to spend four years for PhD (full time) program that includes two years of rigorous course work. The coursework aims at providing an understanding of management disciplines, building theoretical foundations in the core area, develop basic skills for analyzing managerial problems and instill research interest. The coursework is expected to provide the participant with the platform for future research activities. The participant is evaluated through a Comprehensive Examination after the successful completion of course work; the doctoral dissertation period begins only after the participant successfully clearing the comprehensive examination. From third year onwards, the doctoral dissertation work provides the participant with an opportunity to make original contribution to an area of management in
general or to one of its disciplines.

Eligibility:

Candidates should have:
 A Masters’ degree or its equivalent in any discipline with minimum 60% aggregate Marks/equivalent CGPA for General Candidates (including EWS), 55% aggregate marks/ equivalent CGPA for SC/ST Candidates.
Or
  CA, ICWA/CMA or CS with B. Com /similar degree.

 Additionally, each applicant needs to qualify Secondary, Higher Secondary and Graduation Examination with minimum 60% aggregate marks/ equivalent CGPA for General Candidates, 50% aggregate marks/ equivalent CGPA for SC/ST Candidates.

Test Scores:

Candidates require a valid test score either of GMAT, GRE, CAT, GATE, or JRF (NET) score to be considered for admission. Candidates should mandatorily provide the score card as applicable to the test taken.
a) GMAT Applicants: Applicants who have taken GMAT may upload/submit a copy of their official GMAT scores along with the application. Applicants who have not received the official score card from GMAC, should upload/submit the TEST TAKER COPY along with the application, but submit the OFFICIAL SCORE CARD before the interviews.
b) GRE Applicants: Applicants who have taken the GRE may upload/submit a copy of their GRE scores along with the application. Applicants who have not received the official score card from ETS, should upload/submit the TEST TAKER COPY along with the application, but submit the OFFICIAL SCORE CARD before the interviews.
c) CAT Applicants: They should provide their CAT 2018/ 2019 registration number in the online application. The CAT 2018, 2019 scores made available to IIM Shillong will be used in the assessment of the application.
d) GATE Applicants: Applicants who have taken the GATE may upload/submit a copy of their GATE score card along with the application. Applicants who appear for GATE 2020 should upload/submit the admit card along with the online application, but submit the SCORE CARD before the interviews.
e) JRF (NET): Applicants who have qualified for award of JRF (NET) can also apply within the validity of JRF (NET), and upload/submit the relevant documents. 

Selection Process:

Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria stated above and who cleared either of the CAT (2018/2019), GATE, GRE, GMAT and JRF (UGC/CSIR) examinations till 27th January 2020 can apply for the full-time doctoral program. All scores must be valid as on 27th January 2020.

Short-listed candidates (on the basis of their academic record and performance in the competitive examinations mentioned above) will be called for an evaluation/personal interview for final selection. The successful candidates will receive offers to join the course by May 2020. 

Admission to the programme is open to overseas candidates including NRIs and foreign nationals. Their admission will be based on GMAT/GRE scores which are valid till 27th January 2020.

Reservation:

Reservation for eligible categories will be as per Government of India rules (as applicable to IIM Shillong) for the full time doctoral programme at the time of admission.

Duration of the Programme and Accommodation:

Scholars are expected to complete the programme in four years. However, under special circumstances, extension of one more year may be granted if approved by the competent authority. No financial support will however be provided beyond fourth year. PhD scholars will spend their the first two years for course work and the last two years for research and thesis preparation. PhD (full time) is a residential programme.

Hostel facility is available for all the PhD (full time) students; however, family accommodation is currently not available.

Financial Support:
Candidates selected for the full time Doctoral Programme are given a financial support which covers their research requirements and modest living.

Students have to pay the following expenses:
1. Caution Deposit (refundable): Rs.10,000/-*
2. Mess Charges: As per actuals.

A candidate is eligible to submit applications to a maximum of two areas. The process of filing application is to be done in two parts:
1. The application form (available for download from the link below) should be filled up and submitted online. The form should be opened using Acrobat Reader only and submitted by clicking on “Submit Form” Button available on top right of the screen. (Click Here to download Adobe Reader). No photograph needs to be attached on the online submitted form.

If the candidate’s computer is configured with a mail client, the form will get submitted on clicking the “Submit Form” button. In case the candidate is using web mail accounts like Gmail, Hotmail, etc., the “Submit Form” button will allow the candidate to save the form and attach it to a mail. In such case, the attachment should be sent to phd@iimshillong.ac.in

The candidates are requested to be careful while filling in the form and to check the same before submitting it. In case any candidate submits the form more than once, the first such submission will only be considered.

2. The candidates should take a print of the online form before submitting the same. If the candidate is applying for two areas, two copies must be printed. The printed copy (ies) of the online application form, one for each area, with a recent photograph pasted and with all supporting documents (including self-attested copies of mark sheet and certificates of all public examinations starting from 10th, experience certificate, relevant score card, age proof, etc.) attached separately with each form will have to be sent together in one envelop. The envelope containing the filled in application with all required documents should be clearly superscribed “Application for PhD (fulltime) program 2020)”. Completed application forms along with receipt of online application fee of Draft of Rs.1000/- as application fee should be sent to the

Minimum Qualification for admission to Ph.D programme:-

A) Candidates for admission in Ph.D programme in Engineering Departments must satisfy one of the following criteria:-

I. Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 point grading system or equivalent 65% of marks (CGPA x 10). Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates.

II. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology from a centrally funded Technical
Institute with an excellent academic record and with a CGPA of at least 9.0 out of 10
point grading system or equivalent 90% of marks (CGPA x 10). Candidates must have valid GATE score tenable for the year of admission.

III. Master’s Degree in relevant science discipline with a good academic record and of
exceptional m6rit are eligible for relevant engineering discipline with minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 point grading system or more or at least 65 % of marks (CGPA x 10).

Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates.

*** Conversion of CGPA to percentage and vice-versa will not be allowed.

B) Admission to Ph.D programme in Science Department must satisfy one of the following criteria:-

I. Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record and with a minimum of 65 % marks (or equivalent or 6.5 CGPA in a 10 point grading system) or 60oh of marks (6.0 CGPA out of 10 point grading system) {CGPA x 101 with a GATE score or UGC/CSIR-NET/NBHM tenable for the year of admission. Preference will be given to GATE/NET qualified candidates.

II. Master’s degree in trngineering/Technology or equivalent academic record with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 equivalent or 65% of marks (CGPA x 10). Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates.

III. B.Tech/ B.E, degree from a centrally funded technical institute in India with a minimum CGPA of 9.0 in a 10.0 point scale or equivalent of 90%o (CGPA x 10) of marks with a valid GATE score .

C) Admission to Ph.D programme in Humanities & Social Sciences under the Department of Management, Humanities & Social Sciences:-

Scholars for admission to the Ph.D. program in Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) must have a Masters degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 650/o marks or equivalent or 6.5 CGPA in a 10 point grading system or 60Yo marks or 6.0 CGPA out of 10 (CGPA x 10) with a UGC/CSIR-NETAIBHM tenable for the year of admission. The relevant discipline of research will be English / Economics / Rural Management & Development. Preference will be given to NET qualified candidates.

D) Admission to Ph.D programme in Management under the Department of Management, Humanities & Social Sciences:-

I. MBA/P.G. Diploma in Management of Z-year duration with 65Yo marks or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale(CGPA x 10). Preference will be given to GATE, / NET qualified candidates.
*** Conversion of CGPA to percentage and vice-versa will not be allowed.

Institute Employees/Research Scholars under External Registration / Research scholars working under part-time category.
For Research Scholars of this categories, the minimum educational qualifications are the same-as prescribed in A to D above for admission to the Ph.D. program in the respective categories. However, GATE score or CSIR / UGC JRF or Lectureship / NBHM / JMET / CAT / AIMA or equivalent qualification as applicable for regular full time research scholars may not be required in these cases

Admission to Ph.D programme for foreign scholars:-

Foreign nationals can only register as regular fuIl-time scholars. Foreign nationals with degree from Indian Universities will be treated at par with Indian nationals for admission purposes. Foreign nationals with foreign degrees must meet the minimum educational requirements as given in A to D above and equivalent to an Indian Master’s degree in the relevant disciplines. In addition, they phould have a valid GRE/ GMAT /GATE /JMET/ CAT/ XAT/ MAT/ ATMA/ UGC or CSIRA{ET and a score in TOEFL/IELTS or equivalent examination.

Instructions for Applicants

The portal is compatible to Mozilla Firefox. Candidates are advised to use Mozilla Firefox browser only.
Multiple programmes may be applied by the applicant. Separate registration and
application fee is required for each programme.
After registration, Application ID (to be used as login namg) with Password will be sent to the email ID provided by the applicant.
Using the login credential, applicants must login to the Admission Portal for form filling.
Application fees must be paid only by online payment portal from this site.
After completion and submission of the online form, filled in form in PDF format will be generated.
On the day of interview and or written test, the shortlisted candidates should bring a
printed copy of the on-line filled-in form along with all the original of the necessary
documents ( to support all educational qualification, date of birth, category, GATEA/NET score and if any etc.) and a set of photocopy of all such documents, duly self attested.
The exact time and venue for Ph.D interview will be notified along with the list of the
shortlisted candidates.

Important Note

o The scanned copy of Class l0 certificate (as Name and Age proof), Last Qualifying
Degree Mark-sheet (as eligibility proof) and Caste Certificate (if applicable) must be
uploaded on the portal. Other relevant documents shall be submitted along with the printed form on the day of interview.
o Sponsored and Part time candidates including institute staff must submit Sponsorship and No Objection certificate as the case may be in prescribed format at the time of admission without which there will be no admission (link for the form).
o Candidate should apply for Ph.D. program online only. Offline hand written, or printed application will not be entertained. Requisite non-refundable application fee to the extent of Rs. 500/- for OP, OBC and EWS candidates and Rs. 300/- for SC and ST candidates has to be submitted online payment portal only.

NIT Agartala will not take any responsibility for failure on the part of the candidates in making payment of application fee online.

Selection Procedure:-
On submission of online application the candidates fulfilling eligibility conditions will be short-listed. The short-listed candidates will be required to report for written test and interview to the concerned department. Selection will be made on the basis of performance of the candidates in the written test and interview and availability of seats.

Scholarship Facilitv : –
Regular full-time scholars may be awarded scholarship I Assistantship as per MHRD/Institute guidelines.

The GPAT 2020 will be conduct by National Testing Agency (NTA) on the same pattern as per the Year 2019 i.e., Computer Based Test on January 28, 2020 from 02.30 p.m. to 05.30 p.m. for admission to M. pharma or its equivalent courses across the country. 
The result of GPAT-2020 will be declared by February 7, 2020, which will be accepted by over 800 participating Institutes.

Age: 
There is no age restriction for appearing in GPAT – 2020.
Educational Qualification: The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy (4 years after 10+2, including lateral entry students) or equivalent from a recognized university. Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree B. Pharmacy (10+2+4) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for academic year 2020-21 can also apply for GPAT – 2020 computer-based test (CBT).

B.Tech. (Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemical Technology)/ equivalent candidates are not eligible to apply.

Fee payable for GPAT – 2020:

Girls – Rs. 800/-

SC/ST/PwD/ Transgender:

How to apply:
Candidates have to apply for GPAT- 2020 “Online” ONLY by accessing the website gpat.nta.nic.in. The Application Form other than online mode would not be accepted, in any case. Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate. More than one application i.e. Multiple application forms submitted by a candidate will be rejected.

Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT)

GPAT: GRADUATE PHARMACY APTITUDE TEST (GPAT) is a national level entrance examination for entry into M.Pharm programmes. Till 2018, it was conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The Test will now be conducted by the NTA.

This test facilitates institutions to select suitable Pharmacy graduates for admission into the Masters (M.Pharm) program. The GPAT is a three hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session. The GPAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges. A few scholarships and other financial assistance in the field of Pharmacy are also given on the basis of the GPAT score.

Other Information

  • Validity of OBC-NCL Certificate: The OBC-NCL certificates uploaded/ submitted by the OBC-NCL candidates must be issued on or after April 01, 2019. Any OBC-NCL certificate issued before April 01, 2019 is treated as invalid.
  • Validity of Income & Asset Certificate for EWS: To avail benefit of reservation under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), the candidates should upload/ submit a copy of Income and Asset Certificate (of last financial year) issued on or after April 01, 2019. Any Income and Asset certificate issued before April 01, 2019 is treated as invalid.
  • Reimbursement of Travel Fare by Train: For attending PhD interview, the Regular Category candidates shall be provided reimbursement of travel expenses at the rate of to-and-fro sleeper class railway fare or equivalent (as per IIT Guwahati’s travel reimbursement rules).
  • Limiting Number of Candidates for the Selection Process: The Institute reserves the right to call a limited number of candidates for written test and/or interview/ portfolio review, if required, based on performance in GATE/ NET/ CEED/ INSPIRE, grades/ marks in the qualifying degree examination, etc.
  • Candidates who are in Final Semester of Qualifying Degree: Candidates still to appear in their qualifying degree examinations may also apply, provided they appear in all their qualifying degree examinations and complete all requirements for their degrees before 23-12-2019. If selected, such candidates shall be admitted provisionally, and they will have to furnish the results of their qualifying degree examinations latest by 31-01-2020. Further, they must fulfill the minimum requirements of marks/CPI, and other conditions like valid GATE score/CEED score/NET or INSPIRE certificate (as may be applicable) etc., as mentioned under eligibility criteria for respective programmes. Failure to fulfill any of these requirements, shall automatically result in cancellation of admission.
  • Cautionary Note: The above information is not the complete set of Rules & Regulations for the PhD programmes of IIT Guwahati.
  • Legal Jurisdiction: The Courts at Guwahati alone shall have the jurisdiction to settle and decide all matters and disputes related to the above referred admission process, as IIT Guwahati is the organizing Institute.

The objective of the Working Executive Masters in Business Administration (WE-MBA) is to help in-service professionals to enhance their professional competence. The programme would guide participants to discover and develop their potential and help them to assume greater responsibilities and higher managerial roles in their careers. Taking forward the vision and mission of IIM Shillong the program is designed to educate in-career managers in the principles of Responsible Business Management. Wherein the Core Courses in the first year would cover the Fundamentals in Management Science and Practice, in the second year, the participants would have a choice to select courses from a basket of elective courses across different functional domains.

The program in agreement with the global understanding for responsible business management would adhere to the following principles in design and delivery of its curriculum:

  • Educating and developing glocally responsible leaders
  • Enabling business organizations to serve regional, national and global development needs

The program is offered as non-residential weekend contact program at Guwahati Campus to suit the requirements of the working professionals. One of the features of the program is the modular format, wherein generally one or two course(s) would be delivered at a time. Keeping it in tune with the adult learning preference/style and which is becoming the preferred pedagogical preference internationally.

Duration of the Program:

  • 3 Years [With an option to Study on an Accelerated Mode]
  • Week-end (Guwahati Campus): Saturday and Sunday (Time: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM)

Eligibility

  • A Bachelor’s Degree* or its equivalent in any discipline with minimum 50% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA and
  • A minimum of 5 Years of work experience** after successful completion of the above qualification as on last date of application.

*Bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized University. In case the university/institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100.

**Work experience after completion of the qualifying degree only will be considered.

Admission & Selection

All desiring candidates are required to qualify a selection process, which consists of a written test followed by a personal interaction process.

A candidate may either apply by providing a valid CAT/GMAT score or appear for WEMAT (Working Executive Management Aptitude Test) of the Institute. Eligibility of the candidates for the interview process would be ascertained based on the information provided in the application form.

All eligible candidates are required to produce the original academic & work experience records for verification on the date of Personal Interview.

Selection at IIM Shillong is always a function of the candidates’ overall rank and the number of seats available for the program and other relevant parameters. Institute follows the Government of India policy for admission to Central Educational Institutions.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION:
A candidate who has successfully passed Three Year or Six Semester Bachelor’s Degree (Pass or Honours) from this University or any other recognized University under 10+2+3 pattern or equivalent system of education shall be eligible to apply.

However, candidates who had been awarded Bachelor Degrees under Two Year Degree Course System after 4 June, 1986 are not eligible to apply for Master Degree Programmes as per UGC D.O. Letter No.1-15/2015(CPP11) dt. 17th August, 2018.

The intending candidates shall have to fillup admission Form through Online by Login in Tripura University Website: www.tripurauniv.in on payment of Rs. 780/- (Non-Refundable) for UR Candidates and Rs. 580/- (NonRefundable) for SC/ST/OBC Candidates as Application Fee.

Terms and Conditions:

1. If the number of candidates exceed the number of in-take capacity, the admission shall be made on merit basis.

2. The students admitted during 2019-2020 Academic Session shall be guided by UGC (Open & Distance Learning) Regulations, 2017 (as amended in 2018).

3. M.A. Programmes in Political Science, Education and Bengali shall be governed by the Rules & Regulations for Post-Graduate Programmes in the Choice Based Credit System, 2015 and amendments made from time to time.

About Srikishan Sarda College (S. S. College)

Srikishan Sarda College, Popularly know as S. S. College was established on 18th September in the years 1950. It is the oldest higher educational institution in the present day Hailakandi district. At that time the college was affiliated with Gauhati University, but after the establishment of Assam University, Silchar, (A Central University constituted under act XIII of 1989), The college get its affiliation under this university from the year 1994. The college is recognized by UGC under act 2(f) and 12 (b) of the UGC act 1956.

The college is situated in the Hailakandi district in the state Assam, India. The place where the college is located is a remote place. The nearest airport is Silchar Airport, which is nearly 65KM away from the college. Though Hailakandi rail station is nearly 1.5Km away from the college but no direct train connects the place to the rest of the country. Daily night bus service is available, through which the place is connected to the rest of the country.

History of the College
Late Sisir Kar Sashtri, a versatile personality and eminent scholar was the founder Principal of this college , whose untiring efforts, coupled with sincere co-operation from localite and conscious citizens ensures Smooth establishment of the college.

Advocate Gangadhar Biswas was the first president of the college governing body.

About Cachar College, Silchar

Cachar College a co-educational institution established in 1960 at Silchar, India. It offers Intermediate (10+2 level) and First Degree Level (10+2+3 level) courses in Arts, Commerce and Science. The college operates in two shifts — day and afternoon — with the combined intake capacity being 300 for Arts, 240 for Commerce and 120 for Science streams respectively.

Undergraduate programs: Three-year degree courses (TDC) under the affiliation of Assam University, Silchar in Arts, Commerce and Science streams, leading to B.A., B.Com and B.Sc degrees. Student intake capacity of the college for Arts is 150 for day shift and 150 for afternoon shift.

Career-oriented programs: The college has introduced career-oriented programmes, which can be pursued along with other regular courses like B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, etc. On successful completion of such a course, a student obtains a certificate/diploma awarded jointly by Cachar College and Assam University. The college offers a one-year certificate course, two-year diploma course and three-year advance diploma course in Business Insurance, Computer Application and Office Management & Secretarial Practice.
