Tezpur University Admission 2020 – PhD/ UG/ PG/ Integrated/ Diploma/ Certificate Programmes
Tezpur University has released the Online Application Form for Admission into UG Degree/ PG/ Ph.D/ Integrated/ Diploma/ Certificate Programmes in Tezpur University.
Interested eligible candidates may APPLY ONLINE through this admissions portal by paying a fee of Rs. 400/- for SC, ST and PWDcandidates, and Rs. 800/- for other categories. For international candidates fee is 25$. Additional bank charges may apply.
Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the following programmes of study for the academic year 2020-21:
Category I: Admission based on the Entrance Examinations to be conducted by TUEE:
Programmes of study:
1) 8-semesters Integrated B.Sc. B.Ed. (Major in Physics /Chemistry / Mathematics)
2) 10-semesters Integrated M. Sc. in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Life Science (with a provision of lateral exit after successful completion of 6th semester with BSc degree)
3) 10-semesters Integrated M. A. in English (with a provision of lateral exit after successful completion of 6th semester with B.A degree)
4) 10-semesters Integrated M.Com. (with a provision of lateral exit after successful completion of 6th semester with B.Com. degree)
5) 4-semesters M. A. in English / Linguistics & Language Technology / Cultural Studies / Sociology / Mass Communication and Journalism / Communication for Development / Hindi /Social Work/ Education/Assamese
6) 4-semesters M.Sc. in Mathematics / Chemistry / Physics / Environmental Science / Molecular Biology and Biotechnology

15) 6-semesters B.Tech. with lateral Entry in (i) Electrical and (ii) Food Engineering and Technology.
Category II: Admission based on All India Ranking (CRL) of JEE (Main)
Programmes of study: B.Tech. in (i) Civil Engineering, (ii) Computer Science & Engineering,
(iii) Electronics and Communication Engineering, (iv) Electrical Engineering, (v) Food Engineering & Technology and (vi) Mechanical Engineering.
Candidates for admission to B. Tech will be selected on the basis of All India Rank
(CRL) of the JEE (Main) conducted by the NTA (for details please visit JEE website:
www.jeemain.nic.in).
Sixty percent of the total seats will be filled up from the candidates of NE states.
Candidates of NE states may apply against the seats reserved for the North East (NE) states for which the candidates will be required to produce Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) issued by the Competent Authority of any NE state. Counseling and admission of the shortlisted candidates will be held at Tezpur University. Admission to the remaining seats will be made through the Central Counseling conducted by the JoSAA.
Category III: (i) Direct Admission to Integrated and B.Tech programmes (Rank Holder) :
Candidates of NE states securing any of the top 5 positions in the Higher Secondary
Examinations conducted by the Council of the NE states with an aggregate marks of 85% or above will be directly admitted to (a) the 10-semesters Integrated M.Sc./ M.A./ M. Com. programme, (b) 8-semesters Integrated B.Sc. B.Ed. programme and (c) B.Tech. programmes as per their preferences. The candidates of B. Tech. programme will be required to qualify JEE (Main) and their counseling and admission will be made as per CRL Rank of JEE (Main). Such candidates may apply in the prescribed application form separately after declaration of their results of 10+2 examinations conducted by the Council. Candidates passed out from CBSE will
not be considered for the direct admission.
(ii) Direct Admission to M. Tech. programme:
A certain number of candidates will be admitted directly to the M.Tech. Programme mentioned in the Category I (7) based on the valid GATE score. Prospectus may be referred to for exact number of seats for admissions to M.Tech through GATE and TUEE.
Category D : PhD Offering Departments/ Centres: Admission based on the Entrance Examinations and Personal Interview :
(i) Departments under School of Sciences: Chemical Sciences, Environmental Science, Molecular Biology & Biotechnology, Mathematical Sciences, Physics.
(ii) Departments under School of Engineering: Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy, Food Engineering & Technology, Mechanical Engineering.
(iii)Departments under School of Management Sciences: Business Administration and Commerce.
(iv)Departments under School of Humanities and Social Sciences: English, Cultural Studies, Hindi, Mass Communication and Journalism, Education, Sociology and Centre for Women Studies.
Candidates to the PhD programmes will be selected for admission on the basis of Written Examination and Personal Interview. However, candidates with UGC-(NET/JRF)/UGC-CSIR(NET/JRF)/DBTJRF/ICMR-JRF/ICAR-NET/GATE/ SLET / M.Phil. will be exempted from appearing in the Written Examination, however, and they will be required to appear in the Personal Interview. The University Entrance
Examination will be conducted in different designated examination centres; however, Personal Interview (PI) will be conducted in the respective Departments. Pre-Requisites and area of research of the Ph.D. programme are given below.
Reservation and relaxation: As per Govt. of India Rules.
Sports quota: The University reserved 5 seats with not more than one seat per Department on Supernumerary basis for the candidates who have participated National/International sports events. However, they will have to satisfy eligibility criteria and appear in the Entrance Examination.
Examination Centres: There are 27 examination centres covering major cities all over India. The applicant can appear in the entrance examination at any one of the Centres. The University will also conduct the entrance Examinations in Kathmandu (Nepal), Thimpu ( Bhutan) and Dhaka(Bangladesh).

• Last date of submission of online application : 07.04.2020
Online submission of application portal for B.Tech (North East quota) will open on 15th March 2020.
The applicants should read the available instructions carefully while filling in the online Application Form. The following major points are to be noted :
- Application Fee : The payment of the Application fee is to be made online using credit card/debit card/net-banking. The transaction details may be printed and preserved for later reference. The submission of the Application Form will remain incomplete until the required Application Fee is transferred successfully.
- Multiple Programmes : Candidates applying for multiple Programmes must apply separately with separate Application Fee for each Programme. However, there will be one entrance test per department for Integrated dual B.Sc. & M.Sc. and Integrated B.Sc. B.Ed. programmes. Similarly, there will be one entrance test for M.Tech (IT) and M. Tech (CSE) programmes.
- Students applying for integrated programmes for the same department can apply in single application form. The candidates can give their preference either for a single programme or both the programmes. The one who applies for both the programmes will be considered as applying for two programmes and will have to pay two times the application fee. However for single examination only one time fee will be applicable.
- B. Tech. Programmes : In the case of B. Tech. programmes, a candidate needs to apply in a single application form only. The selected candidates will opt for the Programme/ Department based on the availability of seats at the time of their turns during the admission process.
- Candidates yet to obtain the last qualifying Degree/Diploma/Certificate : Candidates who have already finished their qualifying examinations or expect to finish all the components, including practical, viva-voce (if any), and backlog courses/ papers of earlier semesters before the date of admission may also apply.
- Admit Card for Entrance Examinations : Candidates shortlisted for appearing University entrance examinations (not for B.Tech. Programmes) will be intimated separately through e-mail/SMS on their registered e-mail IDs/mobile numbers to download their admit cards.
DOCUMENTS TO BE UPLOADED :
- Copy of the JEE (Main) 2020 admit card, if applying for the B. Tech. Programmes.
- Copy of the Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) issued by the competent authority of any North East State, if applying for the B.Tech. Programmes or M.Sc. Programme in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology under the North East quota.
- Copy of the valid GATE score card, if applying for direct admission to any M.Tech. Programme.
- Copy of the relevant certificate issued by the competent authority, if seeking admission under any reserved category as mentioned.
- Copy of the Sponsorship/No Objection Certificate issued by the employer, if the candidate is employed.
- A passport size photograph
- Scanned copy of the signature
- Relevant certificate as evidence of representing State or Country in sports, if any (Not applicable for B. Tech, M. Tech and Ph.D programmes)
