The 2022 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) judged the institutions and universities in the country on various parameters. The rankings of the 2022 NIRF ranked many universities from NE states among best in India. Many institutes from this region are ranked for the first time.

Institutes from North East Regions also come out good but as compared to other regions, a lot needs to be done to improve education in the region.
